Indian Saree is an attraction for anyone
outside India. It is actually a long six to nine yard long piece of cloth that
the Indian lady drapes in a way that makes her stand out in the crowd. You can
make out from far away that she is an Indian. That is the power of our saree.
Saree is actually a way of ladies to
manually make a skirt by wrapping it around your waist and have a stole over
their shoulder that they call a pallu. Indian saree is worn in many different
ways. One is the simple and common way in which the ‘pallu’, (the following
piece of cloth that is put on shoulder) goes on the left shoulder.
Let’s see how to wear saree. What you
require to drape a saree is a blouse, petticoat and of course the saree.
- Wear your blouse and petticoat. Petticoat is the inner skirt of the saree that is used to tuck in the saree.
- Starting from right holding a corner of your saree, start tucking in your saree, once you reach the point you started
- Now make pleats in a form of a fan, keeping the first pleat a little bigger than the rest. Tip to know how many pleats to make is, put the saree lying loose on your shoulder and see the length you want for your pallu. Keeping that pleat the rest and tuck it in. secure with a safety pin. Also use a safety pin to secure your pallu.
And you are ready! This is the basic style.

Bollywood style, retro style, indo western fusion style. The saree
traditionally is worn in so many styles that can amaze any one that a piece of
cloth can be wrapped and worn in so many styles.
